Tourism Auckland backs Australian radio competition

Couples keen to lose weight will feature in Tourism Auckland’s latest promotion, which was launched on 96FM in Perth this week.

A trip to Auckland will be the prize for Channel Ten and 96FM’s new Gamer Versus Trainer competition, which is modelled on its Biggest Loser television programme.

During the three-week challenge two couples will compete to lose the most weight, with one couple using a personal trainer and the other pair a Nintendo Wii Fit.

The couple that sheds the most kilograms will win a return trip to Auckland and five nights’ luxury accommodation at the SKYCITY Grand Hotel.

During their stay the pair will experience the adrenaline of a SkyWalk or a SkyJump and enjoy outstanding cuisine at the award-winning restaurant dine by Peter Gordon.

Throughout the challenge Tourism Auckland staff will talk live on 96FM to promote the prize package and destination Auckland.

Tourism Auckland chief executive, Graeme Osborne, says this opportunity to partner Channel Ten and 96FM fits well with our program for increased promotional activity in the Australian market.

“With the decline in visitors from other key international markets, an increase in our activity in Australia is imperative.

A unique competition like this will help generate exposure for our region. It’s just one of our many initiatives planned to help boost trans-Tasman visitor numbers to Auckland,” says Graeme.
