Rugby World Cup 2011 (RWC 2011) has been declared a Major Event under New Zealand’s Major Event Management Act. This means that there are legislative restrictions around what words and logos external organisations can use in connection with the event.
New Zealand will have a great opportunity to showcase its unique talents and rich rugby heritage. As part of the wider ‘festivals’ activities planned for 2011, Rugby World Cup Limited is conscious that a number of entities wish to conduct rugby-themed festival activities during or around RWC 2011. Please click here to read more information regarding the rugby themed festivals guidelines.
There are also restrictions on what hospitality and travel can be arranged in connection with RWC 2011. This is because travel agents and hospitality providers are officially appointed by the IRB via Rugby Travel and Hospitality Ltd. Rugby Travel and Hospitality Ltd (RTH) has been appointed to exclusively manage the global hospitality and travel programme for RWC 2011. This presentation provides an overview of its structure and the scale of the travel and hospitality packages we can expect to see in New Zealand for RWC 2011.
There are also restrictions around promoting RWC 2011 at rugby matches and other sporting events.
